Lewis - this story will run and run
The story about Lewis Hamilton allegedly telling porkies at the end of the Australian Grand Prix is unlikely to go away anytime soon. With every new piece of evidence, the case against 'our Lewis' looks ever more damning. It now appears that he refused to change his story even when confronted with radio evidence that he deliberately let Toyota's Jarno Trulli through at the end of the Australian Grand Prix.
What astonishes me is that McLaren ever thought they could get away with it. Car-to-pit radios are now public domain and there must have been at least half-a-dozen tv cameras capturing the moment when Trulli went past. If you're a club racer competing in front of your mum and dad, then you can occasionally get away with telling porkies to the stewards. But if you're the reigning F1 World Champion racing in front of several hundred million people, then you can't. I've no doubt that Lewis is genuinely sorry for what's happened, but this brain fade could still do long term damage to 'brand Hamilon'.
